Information on Yorkie Poo PuppiesWhat is a Yorkie Poo?

Yorkie Poos are a mix of the Poodle and a Yorkshire Terrier breeds. Yorkie Poos exibit many of the qualities of their parents, and typically grow to be less than 10 pounds, as full grown dogs, with many only growing to 5 pounds as adults. If they are cared for properly and taken to the vet, the breed can live up to about 15 years of age.

A Yorkie Poo's coat has many of the same features of a Poodle in the fact that it is curly, especially as a puppy. As the puppy begins to grow the curls tend to waver and become more wavy. The coloration of the coat more resembles that of a Yorkshire Terrier. Many Yorkie Poos have a completely tan color with small hints of black, reddish tan, white, or even apricot.

The breed is great for people that exhibit mild allergies to dog hair because they do not shed like a lot of other breeds do. Their coat does need substantial grooming however, and should be cut quarterly to avoid matting. Weekly and/or biweekly brushing also reduces the risk or mats. It is recommended to comb a Yorkie Poo Puppy's coat daily because of the the curls. The need for daily brushing diminishes as the dog ages.

Yorkie Poo InformationYorkie Poos are typically content being indoor dogs. They spend a majority of their time as adults curled up on a comfortable cushion or dog bed. As puppies, they are very playful and tend to be attracted to practically any commotion or movement. For a smaller breed, Yorkie Poos are very fast despite their short legs.

When it comes to training, Yorkie Poos can be quite stubborn, especially when you begin training exercises when they are adults. The breed responds much better when you begin as a puppy straight from the trainer. This breed, as with all breeds, responds well to positive reinforcement based training and molding techniques when a training regimen is being developed.
